Professional Profile

Lorne A.J. Dunn has established a career in Prince George that ranks him among the most distinguished lawyers in northern BC. He has been a longtime partner at HSJ, coming back to his hometown to practice after spending years in Vancouver for schooling.

He is active in the professional community, being a guest legal speaker to various legal and insurance organizations.

His dedication to the north and to the law has earned him provincial recognition. In 2013 he was appointed a Queen’s Counsel. At the time of his induction the BC Ministry of Justice noted that “ICBC has appointed him as designated counsel for some of their most complex litigation including under-insured motorists’ protection coverage, serious brain injury and fraud cases. He is the immediate past president of the Prince George Bar Association and previous director for the B.C. Law Institute.”

Lorne lets his track record speak for itself and describes his career goals simply by saying “I am motivated by helping people to solve their legal issues and challenges and I enjoy meeting interesting people through the course of my work.”

He is most at home when legal issues are “significant and complex” because he loves nothing more than to get his clients “the result that they deserve.”

On A Personal Note

Prince George is hometown for Lorne, and also spent part of his upbringing in Kelowna. He is married with three adult sons and enjoys spending time with his family when he is not at work. He currently sits on the board of directors and governance committee of the Prince George Community Foundation. He is also the Head Coach of Special Olympics Basketball in Prince George.

He and his family use the region as their great outdoor recreation facility, enthusiastically boating and camping around the local area. He enjoys travelling, as long as it brings him back home.

Lorne invests his time into his community as well as his family and career. He has been a coach for a number of sports, most notably basketball where he is still active, hockey, and fastball where he has made some local history.

“I have been fortunate enough to coach three provincial championship teams in fastball,” he said, showing the pride he has in his teams, be they recreational or the one at HSJ.
