Stephen Hartman was born in St. John's , Newfoundland and moved to British Columbia in 1993. After completing an international exchange at the University of Vaxjo in Sweden , Stephen returned to the University of Northern British Columbia and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2000. In 2001, he participated in the British Columbia Legislative Internship Program and worked for the Government Caucus Research Group and the Ministry of Attorney General during his internship. Stephen completed the Co-op Program while studying law at the University of Victoria . As part of that program, he was employed by the Ministry of Forests, the Office of the Information & Privacy Commissioner and Cook Roberts LLP.
